Congratulations Amanda!

We're delighted to hear the news that Amanda Holden is pregnant!

We were all deeply saddened by the loss of her son at 7 months pregnancy back in February this year. Amanda is very rightly putting the main focus on herself and her family. We wish her all the very best! Here is Amanda's announcement:

Chris, Lexi and I are delighted to announce that I am pregnant and we are expecting a little girl. The first half of this year has been unbelievably difficult for us and so we are beyond delighted to share this news with you. My first priority is of course my family.I will therefore be adjusting one of my professional commitments accordingly. Due to its physical content this means I will end my contract with Shrek The Musical eight weeks early. I will endeavour to continue the show until the 3rd October. I do however ask you to bear with me as I will be putting myself and this pregnancy first. I have taken medical advice and although I am a strong girl and this is 'once again' a good healthy pregnancy I will absolutely not be taking any risks. Your ongoing support for us this year has been so touching. We are enormously grateful. Thank you so much for your understanding. Amanda xxxxxx

Baby Shower Decorations

When it comes to decorating for a baby shower, it is all about atmosphere. Think about what kind of atmosphere you "feel" you want to have at the baby shower.

These are some ideas of Baby Shower Decorations that you could use. Use a few of them or use them all, depending on your theme, time, and budget:

• A really cute idea is the Baby Clothesline Autograph Garland - string this across the room and ask each guest to write a message for the mum-to-be.

• Candles will make the baby shower feel elegant and cosy. You can find candles of different colours and scents to match any Baby Shower theme. Light blue, pink, or yellow candles would fit well.

Balloons are a timeless baby shower decoration. Pink for little girls, light blue for baby boys, and yellow for the "Yet To Be Determined" baby. Balloon bouquets brighten up a table display or corner of the room.  Helium balloons are great to scatter across the ceiling or tie to the Chair of Honor where the expectant mother will sit.

Cutouts come in all shapes and themes.  These are great to stick to the walls of the party room or on the door to greet guests as they arrive.

Confetti is another fun addition and comes in all sorts of shapes and sizes. This gives a fun "party" feel to the room. Sprinkle confetti on the gift table, the serving table, and anywhere else that would look good.

• Flowers give a fresh feel to a baby shower and smell fabulous. Flowers are a great way to match your theme colours.

• Streamers can be strung (with tape) throughout the party room to give your baby shower decorations more colour and texture. Sometimes baby shower decorations look strewn about a room, without anything to unify and pull everything together. Streamers that match your baby shower theme colours do exactly that; they tie in all of the decorations together to look unified and balanced. Be sure to hang them high so they don't get in the way.

• Even your plates, napkins and cups can be part of your baby shower decorations if they are the same colour as your theme colors.  Place them on the serving table to decorate that part of the room.

• A tablecloth is a simple and easy way to add to your theme and decorations. White works with everything, or choose a tablecloth to match your tablewear. You could have matching tablecloths - one for the gift table and one for the serving table.

• Baby Banner - There are numerous baby themed banners available, which brighten up any room. Don't go over the top with them. A banner above the serving table and one to welcome people as they enter can look fabulous.

Where are you having the baby shower?

This will determine how much or how little you will need to decorate. Is it in a big room with high ceilings? (It would be tough to tape streamers to a high ceiling). Is it in a restaurant? (If so, you are limited to just decorating the table where the party will be). Are there places to hang a clothesline up in your house? These are factors that will help you decide what baby shower decorations you can and/or should use.

Cute as a Button Baby Shower!

Cute as a Button is always a favourite baby shower theme. Pastel colours and neutral shades means its perfect for a baby boy or girl. Add a few flowers here and there and a pretty butterfly banner or two and you have a wonderfully elegant but very cute setting.

We suggest setting the theme from the offset and printing out some pretty invitations, attaching little buttons to the edges. We all have a few spare buttons about the place....

Bake some round cookies, put holes through the centre and tie some ribbon through to create a sewn on button effect. Either that or baby vests with icing buttons work really well or cute flower cookies add to the  elegance. Little cupcakes with refresher sweets on top also match perfectly.

Our Cute as a Button soap favours and place card holders / photo frames make wonderful gifts for friends and family or use as games prizes.

Yes, it is all rather girlie but then thats what baby showers are all about...

Ice Cream Theme Baby Shower!

Everyones favourite summer treat has to be ice cream! The perfect way to cool down - no matter which flavour is your favourite...

So, how about an ice cream themed baby shower?  It's perfect for these summer months and will no doubt suit every one of your guests. We all know many mummies crave ice cream in the middle of the night - no matter which weird and wonderful flavour in may be...

Invitations

Set the theme from the very start with a fun ice cream or beach themed invitation.  Your guests will get the message and they are easy to create at home or contact us to design one for you.

Games

Counting games are always fun, so why not have them guess the number of jelly beans or jelly tots in a jar?  They win the jar if they're the closest? You can even adapt a familiar favourite and have guests pin the ice cream on the cone!  It's an easy one to make at home. Create a full sundae bar complete with a seemingly endless supply of toppings and flavours.

Decorations

Incorporating the ice cream theme into your décor is fairly simple.  Use tall sundae bowls as a vase for a simple floral arrangement or to hold some sweet treats, and make ice cream cone name tags for everyone to wear.  Clusters of pastel balloons will almost look like scoops of ice cream when scattered throughout the room.

Favours & Gifts

Make sure that all the prizes for your games tie in with the theme, giving guests a chance to win a set of sundae bowls or an ice cream maker.  You get the idea.  Send the guests home with a little something to remember the day, like this delightful ice cream scoop baby shower favour.  It will continue to serve up the smiles and memories each time they use it.

By the end of the day, they’ll all be screaming for ice cream.  But, if you really want to heighten the experience, have an ice cream van come round with a much-needed delivery!

Mel B's Beverley Hills Baby Shower

Mel B had a star studded baby shower bash in Beverley Hills at the weekend. Kim Kardashian and Denise Richards were among the guests and arrived carrying some beautifully wrapped baby gifts - we'd love to see what was inside!

Kim's sister Kourtney was also spotted arriving at the celebration in Los Angeles on Saturday afternoon.

Writing on her Twitter account, Kim said: "Heading to another baby shower today! Everyone's got baby fever!"

Mel B and husband Stephen Belafonte announced that they are expecting their first child together back in March and the baby is due this summer. Mel B has two daughters already, while Stephen has one child from a previous relationship. Their jubilation surrounding their up-coming arrival is clear to see....."We're really excited," she said at the time. "We wouldn't have planned and waited for four years to have a baby if we weren't really excited about it and ready for it - even though you can never really be truly ready."

Mel B and her hubby decided not to find out the sex of the baby before the arrival as they would like to have a surprise.

We wish them both all the very best!
